Aircraft Certification Office (ACO) is the field branch of the FAA Aircraft Certification Service. The project ACO has geographic responsibility for finding the design complies with applicable airworthiness standards. ACO (Certification)

ACO is a FAA Acronym for: Aircraft Certification Office. ACOs assist with:

Design approval and certificate management
US production approvals
Engineering and analysis questions
Investigating and reporting aircraft accidents, incidents, and service difficulties
Designated Engineering Representatives (DER) oversight

DER – Designated Engineering Representative

Designated Engineering Representatives – A FAA designee, a DER  may approve engineering technical data within the limits of his/her authority by means of FAA Form 8110-3 and, when authorized by the ACO, may witness FAA compliance tests and perform compliance inspections.
